THE LAND OF RED CRABS

Travel Along…

Though the title takes our mind’s eye to some far off exotic foreign land yet it would awe us to know that The Land of Red Crabs in none other than our humble Bengal abode Tajpur. Gifted by mother nature with a rich reserve of flora and fauna, Tajpur won’t fail to appeal one’s senses.

A comparatively new and emerging tourist destination Tajpur is located in the East Midnapore district of West Bengal and is positioned between Digha and Mondarmoni. Unlike its sibling beach locales Tajpur is pretty much secluded from the hullabaloo of thronging crowd and presents the aesthetic beauty in its very raw form.

Fringed with Casurina and Eucalyptus trees with the red crabs playing hide and seek amidst wide expanse of white sand is a perfect getaway package from our daily hectic schedule. The receding sea water during the summer leaves a wide area of the beach for the crabs to sun bath, definitely a feast for our eyes. IMG_1806.JPG

Apart from red crabs the other essential attractions of this place are a variety of Beach activities like Beach cycling, parasailing, rafting, etc. Tajpur is perhaps the best place for beach combing which is an activity that involves searchingĀ  the beach for things of value or interest. Beach combing in Tajpur is a sure shot way of basking in solitude and spending one’s time languishing in the heart of nature. The clean beach, the welcoming blue sea ahead and the surrounding Jhau trees not only fills the place with the sound of enchanting bird chirping but also provides a relaxing space for sun-bath. Occasionally one might see a dingi returning ashore with its fresh catch of a heterogeneous mix of fish, shells, conchs, molasses, etc

At a distance of about 180 km from Kolkata and 20 km from Digha Railway Station, Tajpur is the ultimate sojourn for a much-needed break.tajpur_Gallery
